A letter to all Douglas Dynamics employees from Bob McCormick, President & CEO

Douglas Dynamics family,

As a general rule, I do not usually communicate on non-business issues.

I have decided to make an exception following recent events that are impacting our entire country.

Like so many of you, I am deeply saddened by the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis and the instances of injustice and violence seen in many communities across the country.

Simply put, racism has no place in a civilized society, and everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.

We’ve been in this position before and the same questions remain. How do we bring about real change? What can we do to have a positive impact on our lives and the lives of others?

We all need to answer these questions for ourselves, knowing that we view the situation from different perspectives.

I believe the answer includes unity and teamwork; working together and supporting those who most need our help.

I am proud of our diverse workforce and the efforts we place on creating a welcoming environment, but we can always be better.

I sincerely hope that we all use this situation as an opportunity to listen and educate ourselves, and that we commit to improving our families, our community, and our country, making the world a better place for our children and future generations.

I will leave you with this quote, that is both relevant and mirrors my own personal philosophy.

“Life's most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?’”

– Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Montgomery, Alabama 1957.

I hope you remain safe and in good health as we look to the future.

Respectfully,

Bob McCormick

President and CEO
