Fisher Engineering Receives SIMA Philanthropic Award

MONTREAL, QC, Canada (June 21, 2017) – Fisher Engineering, manufacturer of FISHER® snow removal and ice control equipment, was proud to accept the SIMA Philanthropic Leadership Award at the 20th Annual Snow & Ice Symposium in Montreal, QC, Canada on June 21st, 2017. This award recognizes the most charitable and generous members (individual or company) who practice social responsibility and humanitarianism. In addition, the recipient of the award is given the privilege of cutting the ribbon to open the Symposium.

This award was given to Fisher Engineering for all of the work they do to support the Maine Breast Cancer Coalition, as well as the Susan G. Komen Fund for Breast Cancer Research. A $1,000 donation will be made to the Maine Breast Cancer Coalition as a result of the award.

Fisher Engineering’s efforts to support the Maine Breast Cancer Coalition and Susan G. Komen Fund for Breast Cancer Research has helped raise money and awareness for breast cancer through a multitude of events, such as the GIE+EXPO raffle and the “Find a Cure” campaign. In 2016, FISHER’s GIE raffle raised $11,899 for the Kentucky Chapter of the Susan G. Komen Foundation, setting an all-time high for this cause that they have been supporting for many years. In addition to their efforts of supporting breast cancer research, FISHER also supports Habitat for Humanity, local food pantries and homeless coalitions in Maine, and Trekkers, which is a mentorship organization that connects young people with caring adults. In order to further advance their support efforts, FISHER has a program that matches employee donations to the united Midcoast Charities (UMCC). This provides the opportunity for employees to make twice the impact and strengthens the bond between the employees and FISHER organization.

John Murphy (VP of sales at Douglas Dynamics) accepted this award, on behalf of Fisher Engineering, during the Snow & Ice Industry Awards Night.

During his speech, John Murphy shared his personal experience regarding the effects breast cancer can have on a family. “This fundraising effort for breast cancer awareness, while certainly finding a cure is very important; it’s also helping people who are in need go through the process,” said Murphy. Breast cancer has tragically affected the lives of countless families across the country, including many FISHER employees, dealers and customers. FISHER is proud to have the opportunity to come together with the Susan G. Komen Foundation to support the cause.
